Using you mac to share an appletalk printer
This is a little easy trick for those in a Windows network environment. If you have a laserwriter that your pc can’t see (such as an appletalk protocol printer) and you have an OS X box that sees it, you can turn on Windows sharing in your preferences and share your printer. This is sometimes easier than getting your IS guy to load the appletalk services on your pc. After you turn on file sharing, your pc should see your mac. Go to add a printer in your control panels on your pc. Browse the network and find your mac as published. Open that and you should see your published printer queues. You can select the device and now you can print to that printer from your pc, using your mac printer queue.
The above instructions work for network printing. If you have a printer connected directly to your mac, you may need to use the Printer sharing option, or samba share. Samba gets a little technical. If you need to do that look here:
